Prep over polish
A film is only as good as the surface beneath it. Every car gets the same 14-step decontamination — full stop, no shortcuts, no per-package corner-cutting.
Xtreme Xcellence is a four-bay detailing studio in Laguna Hills. We don't run conveyor washes, we don't sell add-ons we wouldn't install on our own cars, and every job leaves the bay with paperwork signed by the person who did the work.
"We started in a single-bay rental in 2014. We didn't open a second bay until we knew exactly how to keep the first one perfect."
Xtreme Xcellence began with a worn-out Mustang in a rented industrial bay off El Toro Road. Marcus had spent six years installing PPF for a high-volume shop and had grown tired of watching jobs leave with rushed edges and skipped prep steps. So he opened his own door — and committed to a simpler rule: do every car like the owner is watching.
Twelve years later, that rule still runs the studio. Every PPF and ceramic install is signed off by the lead tech who performed it. Every car is delivered with photos of the prep stages, the readings, and the final inspection. We've grown to four bays and seven specialists, but the math hasn't changed: limited slots, no rushed timelines, and the same owner walking the floor every day.
Our customers are people who notice the difference between "clean" and correctly clean — and we built the shop for them.
We don't have a sales team. We don't push add-ons. The way the car leaves the bay is the only marketing we trust.
A film is only as good as the surface beneath it. Every car gets the same 14-step decontamination — full stop, no shortcuts, no per-package corner-cutting.
We install XPEL Ultimate Plus, Stek DynoShield, and Gtechniq ceramics — chosen because they perform in the bay, not because of margins.
Two bays per day, max. A correction never gets rushed because a film install came in. Limited slots are the only way to guarantee careful work.
Photos of every stage, paint depth readings, the installer's signature on the warranty. Your record stays on file for the life of the work.
Whether you're booking a $400 wash-and-wax or a $9,000 full-front PPF, the process follows the same eight checkpoints. The difference is depth, not direction.
We share the protocol publicly because we have nothing to hide — the work is the differentiator, not the recipe.
30-minute consultation. We document existing damage, paint readings, and customer goals before quoting.
Two-bucket foam wash, iron remover, clay treatment, and tar removal — the entire surface is reset before any work begins.
Six-point readings across each panel, logged to your file. Lets us know exactly how much clearcoat is safe to correct.
Single, two, or three-stage paint correction depending on package. Inspection panels approved by the customer before continuing.
IPA wipe to remove polishing oils. The paint is left as bare as it was the day it left the factory.
Plotter-cut film templates, edge tucks, and curing — or coating layered and leveled to spec.
Lead tech signs the final inspection sheet. Photos taken under both shop lighting and natural light.
30-minute walkthrough on care, your warranty pack, and a complimentary 6-month checkup booking on your way out.
Twelve years on the gun. Started Xtreme Xcellence in 2014 after six years at a high-volume PPF shop in Anaheim.
Joined in 2017. Runs every ceramic install and the in-shop chemistry — Gtechniq, Feynlab, CQuartz Finest.
Mastered the rotary at 19. Handles three-stage corrections on swirl-marked classics and high-mileage daily drivers alike.
Expert in leather restoration, alcantara cleaning, and the modern infotainment surfaces every cabin now demands.
Our 4,200 sq ft facility off Merit Circle is designed for the kind of installs we do — not for volume. Climate-controlled bays sit at a constant 68°F so films cure on schedule, and our overhead lighting is calibrated to expose every defect a polisher can fix.
We're closed to walk-ins not because we're unfriendly, but because every car gets a 30-minute consultation that we can't run if there's a queue. Booking ahead is the only way the system works.
4 climate-controlled bays — held at 68°F & 45% humidity for optimal film cure
10,000-lumen lighting grid — exposes defects no overhead garage light can reveal
Plotter-cut film templates — every film cut on a calibrated plotter, not by hand
Customer lounge & on-site shuttle — wait comfortably or get dropped at home within 12 miles
"Marcus walked me through every paint reading on my GT3 before he started. I've never had a shop hand me documentation like that."
"Diego talked me out of a ceramic on my daily driver — said my paint was too far gone, and a correction first would do more. That conversation is why I came back for the GT4."
"I send every new client of mine to Marcus. He's the only detailer in OC who'll turn down work if he can't do it right. That kind of integrity is rare."
30-minute consultations are free, by appointment, with the lead tech who'd run your job. Bring photos, ask hard questions — that's how every project starts.
